Kareem has been working as a freelance translator from German into English since 2004, and has translated hundreds of texts over the years on such topics as political and legal theory, philosophy, botany, and particle physics. He has translated for dozens of professors, scholars, and research institutions.

Here are a few of his jobs and projects:
 

• A co-translation (with Christopher W. Reid) of the book Race, Genetics, and Science: Resisting Racism in the 1930s by Dr. Hugo Iltis, a scientific refutation of Nazi race theory written under extreme conditions in Brno (Masaryk University Press, 2017).

 

• Since 2007, Kareem has been the German-to-English translator for texts and books for The Centre for Cultural and General Studies in Karlsruhe. His projects included translating all German contributions for the English-language books in the series “Interdisciplinary Studies on Culture and Society.” 

 

• From 2013 to 2016, Kareem was a Translator and Senior Consultant for ATP Germany, a Hamburg-based editing and translation company.

 

• Since 2009, Kareem has been translating for The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), working on a variety of scientific texts and projects.

 

• Kareem has translated short literary texts by the prominent German author Sven Hillenkamp.

 

• ​Kareem has translated many short films for the DFG-funded Inside Science series, including "How Does Mass Come to Be? The Search for the Higgs Boson" and “Supersymmetric Particle Cascades Beyond the Standard Model.”
